Ron Baer Gosford Art Prize winner 2013 (MG photo) with textOur special guest on the show was Ron Baer, winner of the 2013 Gosford Art Prize for his painting, ‘Mob-Yuendumu’.  In this interview, recorded by phone from Newcastle, Ron Baer talks about his art practice and, amongst other things, how he came to paint the winning artwork.  The Gosford Art Prize is on at the Gosford Regional Gallery till 24 November, open daily 10am to 4pm.  Free entry.

On the show this week we also had a live interview in the studio with Mary Middleton and Margaret McGowan, two of the three co-founders of Uniting Productions, based in Gosford.  We talked about the aims of Uniting Productions, the number of people from the community who’ve been involved in different ways since it was established in 2010, and their upcoming play, ‘A Better You’ by Mark C Bourne, with six performances starting on Friday 11 October 2013.

Geoff Lehner and John Thomson from the Soundwaves Chorus were also our guests in the studio to talk about their fundraising concert next Sunday 8 September at 1.30pm at the Central Coast Peagues Club Parkview Room, in aid of Central Coast Local Health District Children’s Fund.    Soundwaves Chorus is a men’s A Capella singing group, which sings in four part harmony including in barbershop style.  The concert also features Novatones Chorus from Newcastle, the award winning Zoom Quartet, the Central Coast women’s Coastal A Cappella Chorus, plus the Gosford High School Stage Band.  Book tickets before the day, or buy at the door on the day.
